Losing Our Religion

A former megachurch pastor leaves religion behind to rid himself of the exclusivity created by its dogmas in order to open himself up to learn from the lives, stories, and experiences of everyone else. To prove we are more alike than we think and we can all get along no matter what we believe. Topics range via guest's experiences growing up in religious homes, where Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Secularism, Judaism, Hinduism, Tao, Heathenism, Satanism, Wicca and all forms of dogmas and ideologies programmed into the mind of a child. What happens when that child becomes an adult? What good things do they hold onto? What things do they lose? Where are they now, and in what ways are they finding the peace that we all desire, with or apart from the religions they were raised with? Losing Our Religion is a wild ride with a community of diverse humans each seeking their desired life away from dogma and exclusivity.

The things that trigger our traumas are the very things that point us to what to heal in our lives. Traumas form our lives and if we don’t heal them we don’t grow or have significant reasons why we can’t grow. What do you think?

Thinking Thursday’s are about critically thinking, breaking out of boxes, and discussing new ways we could live this life together.

Many of us have had abusive encounters with narcissistic leaders, family members, or partners. Once we wake up from those experiences and heal, we learn that the only freedom will be to love them from afar and no longer give them voice or place in our life and turn that energy into self-care and self-love. What do you think?

Instead of talking to me about sex on tv, my parents would just shame it, and then yell at me to turn it off and not to watch that! Well, that way of dealing with things has led to being developmentally delayed in our sexuality and relationships. What’s the alternative to shame? TEACHING!
