There are a lot of pressures put on you when you grow up in an Asian family. Add to that weight, being tall in a culture that is notoriously short, sibling rivalry in a culture valuing academic and financial success, having a desire for the arts and fashion.

So often in life, we’re waiting for some cosmic gatekeeper to give us permission to be who we want to be, do what we want to do. In this continuation episode with Jesse Mercury, we join Jesse’s journey of what it’s been like to break free from the gatekeepers and give himself permission to let his creative self-free.

What if life was a SciFi story? You come from the year 3000, born into a Jewish family in San Diego California, stricken with Lyme Disease, you have some religious run-ins who banish you to hell, but you came out alive making your own way.
Jesse Mercury is a cosmic entity from the year 3000, flung out of time with no way to get home. His only hope is to send musical signals into the cosmos in an attempt to attract a higher form of life capable of sending him back to his time. Thus was born the SciFi album, a continually expanding collection of songs inspired by Jesse’s cosmic journeys, and the Jesse Mercury himself.

This episode is a roller coaster ride of interesting topics. Liam grew up Mormon. Is there a difference between love and tolerance? Can you be spiritual and religious? Love, logic, and money are rarely mixed with equal parts, and how the most fruitful conversations begin with “We don’t know.”
Liam Bonnie is a Seattle based traveler whose interests and escapades are mostly an exercise in circles. He grew up in LA County, joined the United States Coast Guard and sailed from the North Pole to Antarctica by the time he was 19. Landed in Seattle where he learned to write and play music. An active member in the Seattle music scene for 18 years.
Like many of us, he has had a barrel of careers: Diesel Mechanic, Licensed Cosmetologist, Pipeliner, Bouncer, Sailor, Honey Hash Manufacturer, Copywriter and Pet Therapist. One of those isn’t true, but it’s not the one you think. His true love is songwriting, and he's currently headed to Nashville to further his pet therapist credentials, or maybe his songwriting?
